How to avoid the risk of exporting LED lighting products that are banned? LED lamp European safety certification analysis

In recent years, with the continuous development of semiconductor lighting technology, double-ended LED tubes for general lighting have been rapidly developed and widely promoted in China.

Europe is an important market for the export of lighting enterprises in China, but the European standard for the safety of LED lamps, EN 62776, has not been officially promulgated yet (the content of the draft version 34A/1501/NP was released as early as 2011), so it is currently the largest in Europe. The standards used by certification bodies for LED tube safety testing and certification are not uniform.

In the design and manufacturing process, how to eliminate the safety risk of LED lamps replacing traditional double-ended fluorescent lamps, meet the requirements of certification standards, and successfully pass export certification to avoid the risk of recalled and banned products due to safety hazards? This article mainly discusses the current practices of major European certification bodies and the technical points that manufacturing companies need to pay attention to.

European certification bodies use EN 62560 (LED self-ballasted lamp standard), EN 62493 and EN 62471 to issue CE certificates for LED tubes. EN 60061-1, EN 60061-3 for G5/G13 caps are also considered for evaluation and testing. Dimensional requirements and some provisions of EN 61195 (Double-head fluorescent lamps - safety specifications), such as lamp length measurement, lamp head torque test, etc.

Do not evaluate the Replacement Starter (Remarks: Replacement Starter refers to the internal short circuit of the replacement of the fluorescent starter or the starter containing the fuse, mainly the function of the connecting circuit).

The instructions will stipulate that the LED tube can only be used in the lamp of the inductive ballast, replace the fluorescent tube with the LED tube, and replace the fluorescent starter with the Replacement Starter.

A German certification body evaluates and licenses LED tubes using the standard E DIN EN 62776 (VDE 0715-16) (Double-capped LED lamps for general lighting services-Safety specifications).

The product name is usually named LED lamp.

Technical point analysis

Draft IEC 62776 is applicable to LED lamps with double-ended G5 or G13 bases, rated power not exceeding 60W, rated voltage not exceeding 250V, LED lamps can directly replace fluorescent lamps without modifying or destroying existing lamps. Tube (see the schematic before and after replacement).
